In 1989, Richard Cook, president of Buena Vista Pictures, said of the SCERA, "It's our favorite theater . . . it is a spectacular place to see a motion picture. It gives the kind of presentation that we wish all our films would play in. It's big, it's clean, it has wonderful sound, great sight-lines. And they've been so loyal to our company and exhibited our pictures for so many years.''

The entrance of Tu Cine. The theater was originally a 950-seat theater named the Plaza. It was later known as the Valley Twin and Cinemas 5.

The sign for Cinema 5 in 2001. After Cinema 5 had closed and before Tu Cine had opened, the theater was used on some weekends for magic and hypnotist shows.

On the sign for the Valley West Plaza in 2004 the 'Cinema 5' section of the sign has been replaced with a 'Cinemas 5' banner.

Before the theater reopened as Tu Cine / Cinemas 5, the name of the Starship Theatres chain was written in blue letters above the entrance. Later the words were removed and 'Tu Cine' was placed over 'Cinemas 5'.

The back wall of Tu Cine / Cinemas 5. On either end are original exits doors from the Plaza Theater days. A set of doors in the middle of the wall were added when the theater became the Valley Twin.
