Miller sees risks in rebuilding Ogden
Gym dandy: The recreation center construction job is set to begin this month

By Kristen Moulton
Salt Lake Tribune, 12 December 2005

Article Summary:
Larry H. Miller spoke at the groundbreaking for the $18.5 million high-adventure recreation center. He said that he wants to be part of the redevelopment of downtown Ogden because of the risk involved. Miller will build a 12-screen cinema complex that should cost between $11 and $15 million. The Ogden Megaplex 12 should be open by November 2006.
Miller did not sign an agreement to build the cinemas until after the City Council approved financing for the rec center late last month. The theaters, rec center, and the Treehouse Museum are pivotal to the new development. The rec center will probably not open before February or March 2007.
Salt Lake City developer David Earnshaw also plans to build upscale condominiums, offices, and shops including a grocery on the bottom level.

The Boyer Company signed a development agreement last week for the remainder of the 21-acre project.
