Browne Hall
Vernal, Utah

Social Hall, also known as Browne Hall, was built by a group of investors led by S. M. Browne, a saloon owner and first mayor of Vernal.  Mr. Mease and Mr. Sheldon opened the Electric Theatre in the Social Hall on 4 May 1908, showing moving pictures and illustrated songs with piano and vocal accompaniment.  In 1910, the Social Hall was sold to the Woodard family for use as a furniture store.

If you recently enjoyed a presentation in a theater in Utah, please take a moment and tell us what you liked about the theater.  If you are familiar with a theater which is no longer open please share with us your comments, stories, or favorite memories of the theater.  Most of our information on past theaters comes from news articles and advertisements, but the best information comes from those who have actually been to the theater.

Guestbook entries will not be published if they are negative, spark controversy, show disrespect to the beliefs or feeling of others, etc.  utahtheaters.info is not the official web site of any theater.  If you have comments or questions that should be directed to a theater's management, please contact the theater directly.
