Theater school needs home

Deseret News, 6 March 2000, page A10

Article Summary:

The Academy of Performing Arts Actor Training School and the Academy Theatre Company have been performing stage plays in the Lighthouse Theater since the Murray Theatre closed six months ago. In January they were told to vacate the Lighthouse Theater.

The children and teenagers who attend this school learn all aspects of theater, including lighting, staging, acting, etc. Fred Adams was so impressed with the performance by the school at last year's Utah Shakespeare Festival, that he has invited them back this summer, a great honor and a first in the history of the Festival.

“Surely there is someone out there in the community who cares enough about the youth of our community. Is there someone out there who could sponsor this acting school and help the school find a permanent home and stage?”
