Eccles Center wants to offer alcohol at civic events

Deseret News, 2 November 1997, page B4

Article Summary:

The Eccles Performing Arts Center applied for a 72-hour liquor permit for its opening.  The Utah Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission plans to discuss the proposed permit at its 21 November 1997 meeting.  The State school board says statutes prohibit consumption of alcoholic beverages in school buildings or grounds.  Park City School District built the auditorium on the high school grounds with the help of a $1 million gift from the George and Dolores Eccles Foundation.  A joint operating agreement allows the Eccles Performing Arts Center to use the building half of the time.  The new auditorium is scheduled to open 15 December 1997, but no civic event is planned until 10 January 1998.
