West Jordan theater troupe finds temporary home

Sugar Factory Playhouse closure:

• the Sugar Factory Playhouse in West Jordan closed after a study found the venue to be seismically deficient
• the West Jordan City Council had voted to fund $1 million in renovation of the old Sugar Factory plant
• first-year Mayor Melissa Johnson, who voted against the funding, was blamed for poor timing for closing the playhouse days before a production
• Midvale officials agreed to let the theater troupe use the city's performing arts center at 695 W. 7720 South for “See How They Run,” which opens Thursday.
• the Midvale center is significantly smaller than the West Jordan playhouse
