Deseret News, 11 July 2007, page B4

Article Summary:

The West Jordan City Council rejected the only fund-raising proposal it had received for its planned sugar factory project because the proposal did not meet the needs of the project.  The council plans to more specifically outline the requirements for the project and again seek proposals.

Plans to convert the sugar factory into an arts center include:

  • performance areas for theater, dance and music groups
  • an art gallery
  • rooms for art classes
  • convention and multipurpose facilities
  • an outdoor amphitheater
  • existing 230-seat Sugar Factory Playhouse to be replaced with a larger performance area
