Utah Theatre closes doors 'temporarily'
Herald Journal, 24 September 2005
Article Summary:
On 23 September 2005, the Utah Theatre closed it doors, at least temporarily. Although boxes and bags of candy and a quarter-full popcorn machine were still visible through the darkened windows, the building showed no other signs of life on Friday morning. Its marquee had been stripped and a "Batman Begins" slate showing showtimes and ticket prices was sitting on the top of glass shelves.
A recorded message on the theater's answering said, "Thank you for calling the Utah, Cache Valley's luxury theater. We have decided to retire. Therefore, we are temporarily closed. Thank you for your patronage."
The Utah Theatre, owned by Keith Hansen, was the downtown option for second-run movies at a discount price.
