Salt Lake Tribune, 16 March 2001, page C8

Article Summary:

The Boyer Company, one of Utah's most successful real-estate development companies, and Larry H. Miller, owner of the Utah Jazz and owner of one of the largest private car dealer groups in the country, have signed a partnership agreement on a theater complex at The Gateway. The theater complex will feature 12 screens, stadium seating, and seating capacities ranging from 200 to 600 seats.

Boyer Co. began talks with Miller about the theater complex about three months ago, after a deal with another theater management company didn't work out. Miller will pay for about half of the cost of the theater, investing $10 million for screens, concession stands, and other interior improvements. Boyer is constructing the buildings.

The Gateway is a $300 million development located on Salt Lake City's west side. It will open in November 2001 and includes a mix of retail, entertainment, residential, and office space.

Boyer Co. had been talking with another theater management company, but that deal didn't work out, and about three months ago started talking with Miller.
