To Improve Bountiful Opera House

Davis County Clipper, 22 August 1913, page 1
The passing of Lamoni Call interests into new hands, from all indications will mark a new epoch in the development of upper Main Street in Bountiful.  Already Mr. Samuel Rockwood and family from Salt Lake have moved in. The old printing office building is being remodeled and fixed up for business.  The Opera House is to be practically made over, a new and up to date heating plant installed, fire apparatus provided, emergency doors and isles provided and every precaution taken to make the place perfectly save, comfortable and pleasant.  The stage will be remodeled in attractive style.  A new front built and entrance improved to conform with strictly up to date show houses.  The front will be of cement blocks built up square to its present extreme height, an attractive electric sign built out over the sidewalk.  The interior walls and ceiling will be decorated at a heavy expense, making in all an attractive place to spend an evening perfectly save, comfortable and pleasing to the eye.  Bountiful is to have an up to date show house.  The policy of the new management will be to provide the best entertainment possible to obtain, and the strictest decorum and order will be enforced to please the most refined patronage.

Mr. J. A. Rockwood, president and manager of the Granite Furniture Company in Salt Lake City, is the new president and manager of the Bountiful Opera Company, Attorney E. C. Ashton, vice president, Samuel Rockwood secretary and treasurer, Dr. Kelser and W. G. Carr additional directors.

The work of remodeling is to commence at once.  All Bountiful will be glad to welcome this, as all other improvement.  Success to the new opera company.
