'Porgy and Bess' Movie Slated in Salt Lake

"Porgy and Bess," film version of George Gershwin's famous American folk opera, opens an extended roadshow engagement at the Villa Theatre in Salt Lake City on Thursday, Jan 28, Fox Theatre officials announced Sunday.
The Villa engagement of "Porgy and Bess" will be presented in Todd-AO wide screen process. All seats will be reserved.
Samuel Goldwyn's motion picture production of "Porgy and Bess" is currently being shown only in major cities in the nation. The Villa is the only theatre in this area equipped to show the Goldwyn production in Todd AO process.
According to John O Denman, city manager of Fox theatres, "Porgy and Bess" will be shown twice daily on Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Evening performances will be at 8:30 pm, 7 nights a week, with matinee performances at 2 pm.
