Centerfield has reached such importance industrially and financially that her citizens feel the necessity for a local bank.
Two rival corporations are endeavoring to secure a state charter to operate a bank in Centerfield. [missing name] & Berglund and J. W. Jones of Gunnison and other prominent men of Centerfield filed articles of incorporation on April 1st, 1919, praying for a charter to operate a bank with a $20,000.00 capital, and A. C. Fjelsted and Soren Person and other prominent men of Centerfield and Ephraim signed articles of incorporation on April 3, 1919, praying for a charter to operate a bank with a $35,000 capital.
Neither charter has been granted yet by the state bank examiner.
