Morgan County News, 5 August 1949, page 1
The news Morgan theatre will be completed and ready for a grand opening on August 12, Alva Dearden, owner, said this week.
An outstanding feature picture, “Sorrowful Jones,” starring Bob Hope, has been booked for the opening night and will also be shown on Saturday, August 13.
The new $75,000 theatre has been erected in Morgan with the finest equipment, acoustical and visual facilities available. The floor in the building is “barrel” type so that there is no distortion of the picture from any seat in the theatre.
The building is fire proof and has a cry room for the convenience of mothers attending shows with small babies.
“We believe we have one of the finest smaller theatres in the state,” Mr. Dearden asserted, and he also pointed out that admission prices are in the low range of 50 cents fro adults, 30 cents for children. Shows will start at 7:30 p.m.
