Kurt Bestor's Best Singer Search Kicks Off a Statewide Frenzy

Audition to be Held Today at the Megaplex 13 in Ogden from 4pm-6pm.
Ogden, UT – October 23, 2007 – Kurt Bestor’s Best Singer Search will be held today, Tuesday October 23, from 4pm-6pm at the Megaplex 13 at The Junction in Ogden. Musician Kurt Bestor and a guest judge will be at Megaplex 13 auditioning vocalists. Auditions are free to the public and one lucky winner will be chosen to have a professional recording session and to sing in concert with Bestor.
Over 100 people turned out to tryout for the first Bestor’s Best Singer Search event, held Thursday night, October 18, in downtown St. George. The line of eager hopefuls wound around the block while Payne finished his set.
The reason this singer search is creating such excitement is because, “this could literally launch the right person to stardom,” says Kevin Raleigh, Bestor’s Los Angeles-based manager.
Of the five audition locations, three finalists will be announced on Studio 5 on November 28. The statewide winner will receive a bevy of perks and once-in-a-lifetime professional opportunities including a paid trip to world recording capitol Los Angeles to meet with a record executive and to stay at a first-class hotel.
“I was expecting maybe 30 or 40 people, but with the advance work of PR firm Fruition Consultants, as well as the helpers they enlisted, such as Sandy Lenois of Downtown Thursday Night, and Vicki Wardrop, of Wells Fargo we had an amazing turnout, ” said Kurt Bestor.
The night in St. George was a rousing success. The 500 people from the community who showed up to watch and cheer on the auditions stayed for close to three hours. Contestants ranging in ages from five to 80-something showed up and sang pop country, opera arias, top 40 R&B, classic rock, Christmas carols, and Broadway show tunes. Very few songs were sung twice with the exception of several contestants who sang Prayer of the Children, one of Bestor’s own songs.
If the numbers for the St. George event are any indication, audition hopefuls should show up early as tryouts are held first come first serve. The public is welcome to come and watch the audition process. Auditions will be held Tuesday, October 23 in Ogden, Wednesday, October 31 in Logan, Tuesday, November 7 in Provo, and Tuesday, November 14 in Salt Lake City.
