Ground broken for cinema, retail project in Syracuse City

Enterprise, 29 October 2007

Article Summary:

Hawes Brubaker Neider LLC has broken ground for a new development which will include a six-screen theater complex managed by Westates Theatres Inc.   Two of the screens at the Syracuse Stadium Cinemas will be large “premiere”-style cinemas, seating 400 to 500.  Crawford Construction of Logan, general contractor, will begin construction next week.  The theater should open in Spring 2008.

Ground has been broken in front of the theater for 14,000 square feet of in-line retail space and three 5,000 square foot pad sites for either retailers or restaurants.  A 15,000 square foot mid-box retail building will follow.  Preliminary design is under way for two office buildings on the site, each measuring about 20,000 square feet.  Dixon & Associates, Salt Lake City, is the architect.
