Outside Theater Starts Show Tomorrow Night

Vernal Express, 20 April 1950, page 9

Vernal's new “Starlite” Drive-Inn theatre, about two miles west of Vernal on Highway 40, will stage its grand opening tomorrow night (Friday) at 7:15 p.m., according to Marvin Caroll, owner and operator.

It is believed that the new theater will be the only one of its kind for a radius of at least 150 miles from Vernal.  It will accommodate 300 cars and could easily be enlarged to accommodate 500 cars, if the necessity arises, Mr. Carroll reports.  The screen is large enough to provide good vision for 700 cars, he states.

The theater will be equipped with individual speakers having tone control.  Speakers are placed through the window of the vehicle, where they may be regulated by the auto occupants.

Shows will change four times weekly, according to Mr. Carroll.

Mr. Carroll resides with his wife and two and one-half year old child in Glines ward. He is a veteran of two and one-half years service with the U. S. Army.
