World-Class Local Talent Tickets Available

Casino Star Theatre, 27 February 2010

Tickets are available for the Casino Star Theatre’s second World-Class Local Talent fundraiser. On Thursday, March 11, starting at 7:30 p.m., the 1912 vaudeville stage of Gunnison’s only nationally recognized historic structure will host a variety of area performers who have earned awards, titles and high honors for their outstanding musicianship.

Performers have graciously donated their talents to support this spring’s restoration work on the ornate façade that will finally receive its new stucco and restored ornamentation. Dr. Elaine Jorgenson, Professor of Flute at Snow College, will perform, as will the current Miss Sanpete, Hannah Christenson, an accomplished young pianist. They join Cantus, Gunnison High School’s first-place girls’ chorus; Mary Kaye, singer/song-writer of Manti; and Tim Christenson, classical guitarist of Gunnison.

In addition, Daynes Music of Salt Lake City is donating the use of a seven-foot Steinway piano plus a portion of the transport costs, and local sponsors are helping with advertising expenses. Thanks to Applied Composite Technology, Gunnison Valley Hospital, Dr. Dwight H. Inouye, Dr. Richard B. Nay, and Peterson Refrigeration and Mechanical for their contributions to the concert series at the Casino Star.

We are most grateful to the audiences who come from several counties to support the restoration of the Casino Star, not only as a historic building, but also as a center for quality live entertainment.

Ticket outlets are Rasmussen’s Ace Hardware in Gunnison, the Sanpete Messenger Office in Manti, and Kopy Kat Printing in Ephraim. Suggested donations are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. For more information, call Diana at 435-979-2798, or Lori at 435-979-9235.
