The roofing project on the Gem theatre was completed this week by the Middleton Sales and Service.
The roofers tore off approximately ten tons of old roofing, according to Robert Middleton, contractor for the job. The weight of the new roofing will amount to approximately one-tenth of the former weight, Middleton said.
An undercoating was placed on the bare roof and an aluminum coating rolled on while the undercoating was still wet. After it had set, a top coating was rolled on the foil. Middleton stated that there was no seam on the roof for the water to start a deterioration process.
