West Jordan community theater to use schools through July

The West Jordan City Council decided to contract with Jordan School District to use middle or high school auditoriums for the Sugar Factory Playhouse productions for the next few months. The $2,600 rental fees for the youth production of “Wonderland” would be paid from the City Council's contingency budget, but might be offset by extra ticket sales. The council will need to decide by July whether to continue contracting with schools, build a temporary structure for the playhouse, or retrofit the Sugar Factory venue. The Sugar Factory board wants to continue raising money for a renovation of the theater. The Sugar Factory Playhouse seats fewer than 300.
