Shakespeare Comes to Gunnison, March 8

The Casino Star Theatre Foundation is presenting the Utah Shakespeare Festival's touring production of A Midsummer Night's Dream at Gunnison Valley High School on Thursday, March 8 at 7:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity to watch seven professional actors portray young lovers, dukes, Pucks, rustics, fairies, a play within a play—all the humor and confusion of various ways "the course of true love never does run smooth."

This production is directed by Festival Actor Melinda Pfundstein and will be staged in modern dress. With seven actors performing multiple roles, the audience will see the great talents of the performers, as well as their physical dexterity in quick-change costumes. The two young couples, for example, double as the rustic performers;

Most of the performances on the annual educational tour are in-school only, with just a few public performances scattered here and there. The only other opportunity in the Six-County Area to see this hilarious production is at Sevier Valley Center on April 20.

The day in Gunnison will begin with a school production at 1:40 p.m., followed by actor workshops at 3:30 p.m.

The evening performance will be at 7:00 p.m., and the high school auditorium will seat around 500. We're keeping the prices this year to $6.00 for students/seniors and $8.00 for adults because of some generous sponsorship donations from Questar and Zions Bank. Seating will be first-come, first-served.

Advance tickets will be available at a reduced rate of $5.00 for students/seniors and $7.00 for adults at Rasmussen's Ace Hardware and Gunnison Implement in Gunnison; the Sanpete Messenger Office in Manti; and at Kopy Katz Printer in Ephraim.
