Commission Spares Empress Theater
Salt Lake Tribune, 6 September 1984, page 12C
The abandoned Empress Theater in downtown Magna dodged the wrecking ball Wednesday as Salt Lake County commissioners gave a new owner until Dec. 1 to make a complete structural renovation.
Commissioners earlier told their public works department to find a contractor for demolition work that would be billed to owners.
But new owner Leo W. Ware, 2913 E. 3370 S., told the governing body he wanted to renovate the old structure.
It is in a neighborhood being considered as the unincorporated valley's first redevelopment district.
