Chief Wants Utah Theatre Made Safe

Ogden Standard Examiner, 11 April 1923, page 7

All theatre buildings or places of amusement in Ogden are being inspected by Fire Chief George A. Graves under orders of the board of city commissioners, it was announced today.   All theatres will be ordered to provide ample fire exits where fire risks may be found.

An inspection of the Utah theatre was made yesterday by Chief Graves personally and a report made that there was but one emergency exit in the rear of the theatre and that to reach it persons would have to pass up a short flight of steps.  The building makes it impossible to provide side exits, the report stated.

A promise was given by the theatre officials to clear away palm trees and step-ladders near the exit and to put the exit in good condition at once.
