New Theater Opens Here Next Friday
A new theater, “The Movie,” will open in downtown Ogden Friday.
Located in the Ben Lomond Motor Hotel, the “Movie” will be operated by Wayne and Mark Stephens who also own the North Star drive-in theaters.
The “Movie” occupies the former dining room of the hotel just off of the 25th Street entrance. This area has been extensively remodeled.
This is the first theater to open in downtown Ogden in more than a quarter of a century.
All seats in the theater are arranged to provide an obstructed view of the large screen. The self-rising rocker seats have high backs and upholstered arm rests.
The lenticular screen spreads the light evenly over the entire screen surface and is designed to accommodate present and future project systems.
Free parking is offered in the lot across the 25th Street where the old Ogden Theater once stood.
Manager of the theater will be Dennis Stephens, a native of Ogden, who has been engineer with the J. H. Simplot Co. in Burley, Idaho, for a number of years.
Mr. Stephens said the theater will show exclusive first-run films with programs at 7 and 9 p.m. Each evening and a matinee at 3 p.m. On Sundays.
The Stephens said they will offer Ogdenites “exclusive first run films” at the “Movie” in surroundings conducive to relaxed enjoyment with spacious continental seating, refrigeration, wall-to-wall screen and ample leg room.
“Luxuriously intimate, it is designed to enhance the distinctive films planned for Ogden patrons,” Mr. Stephens said.
