'Little Theatre' is to Open in Ogden

Ogden Standard Examiner, 10 November 1919, page 2

The Little Theatre movement, which was initiated the other day, with Judge Dan Sullivan of the juvenile court as the moving spirit, is well under way and it is planned to start work within a short time.

The movement was made possible through the public spiritedness of S. B. Steck, owner of the Rex theatre. With a large expense involved in the original introduction of the plan, Mr. Steck was approached on the matter of using the Rex theatre for rehearsals and presentations of plays from time to time.

Judge Sullivan said this morning that Steck's public spiritedness had made the opening of the Little Theatre a reality. “We are going in there in a purely gratuitous way,” said Judge Sullivan. “Mr. Steck is allowing us to use his theatre practically without rental. He is very much interested in the Little Theatre movement and is making this concession in order to try to make it possible for Ogden to have a “Little Theatre.”

Mr. Steck will, however, run his special features at the Rex, from time to time, as he has done in the past.
