Police Raid Theater

Ogden Standard Examiner, 27 October 1975, page A8

Police raided a Salt Lake City theater during the weekend and seized two full-length movies and short subject, after a police officer and a city judge viewed the films.

The officer, J. R. Lewis, described the films, “Memories Within Miss Aggie” and “Sex Clinic Girls” in a scene-by-scene police report.   Lewis said he first saw them Wednesday before bringing the judge to the Gallery 2 Theater-goer
No Arrests

He served the seizure papers on James Piepenberg, theater owner.   No arrests wre made, however. Lewis said charges of displaying an obscene film were pending.

He said he was required to sign a statement that he would not be offended by “frank” sexual matter before viewing the movies.  Theater owners say they require such a statement from all patrons.

The Gallery 2 is one of two small theaters in the same building in a primarily industrial area of the city.
