Sugar Factory Playhouse
West Jordan, Utah

After the city bowery was demolished to make way for a new fire station, West Jordan Theater Arts opened the 230-seat Sugar Factory Playhouse in the city's old sugar factory. Inspired by Trolley Square, the West Jordan City Council planned to renovate the sugar factory and turn it into a cultural arts center with a larger auditorium, amphitheater, art gallery, conference center, reception hall, and retail center. Expensive seismic upgrades eventually doomed the project and the sugar factory was demolished by the end of 2010.

We own the Apollo now. We have named it Apollo 8 (after our 8 children) The building is still just as amazing as ever. The huge 7000 sq foot SPRING LOADED dance floor is still in place. There have been some renovations to the reception area, and it now has a 3 tiered stage. The Osmond parents actually MET at the Apollo, so I have been told. We have it available for events, weddings, parties, etc. We also have a Swap meet/boutique on Saturdays, to try to tell everyone, the Apollo is open again. We have a Lindy Hopp (participants from all over the US.) coming up in Sept. Mid-Singles will be starting dances soon, on specified Fri and Sat.
