Total Fires 179

Murray Eagle, 11 February 1932
The Salt Lake County Fire Department Number 1, located at the County Shops in Murray had a good busy year in 1931, in spite of the so-called depression and have the following activities for the year:

. . .

Practically all of the property involved in the above fires was insured, according to the information given to the Fire Chief Jack Clay.

In addition to the fires in this list the Salt Lake County Number 1 also aided the Murray City Department on the big fire at the Murray Opera House and also on the disaster at the Murray Mills. No 1 department also had to aid the boys of the Magna department on the Saltair fire.

The Salt Lake County No 1 division has a fine record in caring for property in the county that is threatened with fire and helps to keep down the insurance rates that would otherwise be prohibitive.

We can all be thankful for the great work the department has performed in their fire work.
