Movie Theater Unveiled

Salt Lake Tribune, 10 July 1968, page 14A
Salt Lake's newest motion picture theater - Fox Cottonwood Mall - was unveiled Tuesday to a group of theater corporation officials, information media and advertising representatives.

William Thedford, vice president and director of theater operations for National General Corporation, showed off the new theater, expressing his faith in the future of motion pictures in the Salt Lake area. He mentioned the fact that Fox Cottonwood Mall was the fifth theater opened by National General in this area in the past 18 months, and brings the total of corporation theaters to 270.

Chill Wills, veteran motion picture character actor, also spoke briefly, expressing his appreciation for his association with Utah, where he has made many pictures, and maintaining that "motion pictures still are the greatest entertainment media in the world."

Visitors to the theater, which will open Thursday with "The Thomas Crown Affair," staring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway, were given a demonstration of the four dimensional sound system in the auditorium.
