Classical Films Set For Avalon

Deseret News, 26 January 1972, page A14

When “San Francisco” and “Mutiny on the Bounty” open tonight at the Avalon Theater, they will begin a new policy of classical pictures for the showhouse for a while.

After these pictures are shown, management of the theater will present “Gone With the Wind,” “Dr. Zhivago,” “Space Odyssey” and “Ryan's Daughter,” followed by “Easter Parade” and “Singing in the Rain.”

Although both “San Francisco” and “Mutiny...” have been shown on television, their impact is greater when exhibited on a large theater screen and without commercials.

Clark Gable is one star common to both movies. “San Francisco” also features Jeannette MacDonald and Spencer Tracy, “Mutiny...” stars Charles Laughton, Franchot Tone and Donald Crips.
