Two New Theatres Open in Mall

Daily Herald, 1 September 1974, page 25

The grand opening of the University Mall Twin Theaters Friday was attended by Henry Plitt, the owner of the chain to which the new theaters belong.

According to Mr. Plitt, the twin theaters are the first addition to the company since its recent reorganisation.

"We are very excited about them," he declared, pointing out that they have the newest and finest equipment in the industry.

"We have located them in a very active and vital shopping center," he stated, adding that he appreciated the welcome he had received from the Orem people, and that he desires the theaters to be a real asset in the community.

At a luncheon before Friday's ribbon-cutting, Mr. Plitt remarked that his chain will show only motion pictures that are "up beat" in theme.

He said the day of the x-rated picture is receding, and that he has on occasion been his own censor in refusing to distribute pictures that portrayed things he
thinks are offensive to the average viewer.

The outlook for the move industry is favorable, he concluded. "People are going to see movies more now than at any time in the last 28 years, and Hollywood is turning out better pictures now," he said.
