New Iris Theater Near Completion

Murray Eagle, 2 October 1930, page 1
Mr. Duvall, manager of the new Iris theater, states that he expects to open hgis new picture theater about the middle of next week.

Construction work has gone quietly and steadily forward onthis splendid new home of the talkies and it hardly seems possible that the Iris will so soon be ready for the public's inspection and approval.

We venture to say that when the public makes its first visit to this new picture show house, they will be greatly thrilled and not a little surprised at the beauty and cosmopolitan appearance of the new theater. It is without a doubt the finest and best moving picture theater outside of Salt Lake City from every standpoint. Nothing has been spared to make the new show house the most attractive and comfortable and every base of tis construction has been studied and planned with th e greatest care, from acoustics to seating comfort and scientifically purified air and ventilation.

It is gratifying to know that although the general contractor for this magnificent theaterm store building and apartment house was not a Murray contractor, many Murray men have worked on its construction. The lumber was furnished by the Morrison Merrill Lumber company, Ben Gordon and Sons furnished the mill work, Tony White and Mr. Sheya the sheet metal work, the Brinton Electric the wiring, and D. J. Campbell is doing the decorating.

The carpets, draperies, furniture and window shades will be furnished by the Granite Furniture Company and Ma Isens.

So this wonderful new building is a real Murray institution for Murray people.
