West Haven plans theater development

Los Angeles-based Metropolitan Theaters plans to open a twelve screen movie theater in late 2010 at The Destination, a 225-acre development in West Haven.   Work on The Destination began in 1998 when developer John Thomas acquired land for the project.  In addition to the cinema, the development will include up to 65 retailers and 225 homes.  West Haven's population, currently at 7,500, is projected to reach 35,000 by the time the project is completed.  The Destination is expected to draw from 12 to 20 neighboring communities, with a population base of 135,000 to 200,000.
