Peter Pan Auditions

Alpine Community Theater, 2 April 2013

“I’ve Gotta Crow!” Get ready to audition for Peter Pan, the celebrated Broadway musical about a good-natured, mischievous boy who can fly and refuses to grow up! Alpine Community Theater (ACT) has put out an open call for auditions, to be held Sat., May 4, at Timberline Middle School, 500 W. Canyon Crest Road, Alpine. Peter Pan will be performed July 12 through 22 at Timberline Middle School.

With many speaking and singing roles available, plus many more for dancers, a large chorus, and extra parts for children, the auditions are open to children (age 8 and above), teens, and adults. Those wishing to audition should plan to spend two hours to complete the audition process. Children (8-12) should arrive at 9:00 a.m.; adults (19 and up) at 12:30 p.m.; and teens (13-18) at 1:30 p.m. Contact Laura Snyder in advance at 801-763-1225 if a different audition time is needed.

Come prepared to sing 16 measures of an upbeat song from a Broadway musical (nothing from Wicked or Hairspray). An accompanist will be provided. No CD players or other electronic devices will be allowed. Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing to learn and perform dance steps. Special skills, such as gymnastics, acrobatics, and unique talents, are also needed. Call backs will be held during the week following the auditions.

ACT will offer an audition workshop on Sat., April 20, for anyone wishing to brush up or learn auditioning skills. For more information on audition details or to register for the audition workshop, visit ACT’s website at www.AlpineCommunityTheater.org.

Enthusiastic, community-minded volunteers are needed to help as stage managers; stage crew; costume designers; seamstresses; sound, lighting, hair, and make-up specialists; set artists; and production supervisors. An informational meeting for volunteers will be held April 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the ACT Performing Arts Academy, 40 W. Main Street Court, Suite 175 (next to the clock tower building). All interested individuals are invited to attend.

Alpine Community Theater draws its strength from an overwhelming community interest in musical theater, providing outstanding productions, “where everyone can get into the ACT.” For more information, contact Laura Snyder, ACT president and executive director, at 801-763-1225.
