On 2 February 2010, the Alpine Arts Council announced plans to build the Alpine Community Theater at 264 South State Street. The 54-foot-heigh performing arts center would include classrooms, an art gallery, a sculpture garden, and smaller auditorium in the basement. The main auditorium would seat 600 and the stage would include a trap and fly loft. An outdoor amphitheater and a custume shop could be built later. Much of the funding for the theater had already been pledged or committed. Operating expenses would be paid from income from productions, receptions, and classroom rentals.[1]
