10 movies open first-run showings

Deseret News, 24 May 1979, page A23
What a weekend for theater news!  Ten new pictures to the Wasatch Front area will begin first-run engagements; a new showhouse will open; two 3-D pictures will return in that process and most new films will start on Friday.

The new theater is Carriage Square Trolley at 4100 South just west of Redwood Rd.  The showhouse is being operated by the Trolley Corp., which has 14 screens in this area.  This theater will consist of two auditoriums seating 320 persons each.

Opening attractions will be "China Syndrome," the suspense picture of a nuclear accident that had many parallels in a real happening, and "Bedknobs and Broomsticks," the Walt Disney Studio reissue that's a combination of live and animated action and which tells the fantasy of about a witch who saved Britain during World War II.  The picture has returned to several other theaters.
