Theater Complies, Alters Schedule

MURRAY - A local drive-in theater has revised its film scheduling, eliminating one picture because of a recent Murray ordinance which prohibits showing of X- and R-rated films.

Mayor William E. Dunn was told by officers of the National General Corp., that the movie, "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls," will not be shown at the Fox-Olympus Theater, 700 East and 5600 South, because of the ordinance.

Its only showing now is in a Salt Lake indoor theater, Mayor Dunn said.

The mayor said officials of NGC were informed by Police Chief Calvin Gillen the film would be confiscated if an attempt were made to show it.

The city commission took the action after residents of the area complained the movie screen is clearly visible from a church where night activities often take place, Mayor Dunn said.
