The Starship Theatres Gateway 6 opened on 18 June 1993.  Following the opening of the new multiplex three other theaters in the area closed - the Queen (also operated by Consolidated Theaters), the Sandcastle (a 2-screen discount theater), and Trolley North (a triplex owned by Westates Theaters.)
