Deseret News, 25 November 1972, page T2

. . .

Here's a rundown of some of the major construction projects either going on or about to start:

—The ZCMI Center is the major project in the slate. In fact, It's probably the largest commercial project ever
attempted in Utah, exceeded in scope only by industrial projects like the NL Industries' magnesium plant nearing completion at Great Salt Lake or by some of the expenditures made by Kennecott Copper Corp.

The center. which will be an enclosed shopping mall with perhaps 60 different stores, including a new ZCMI store, will have more than 2 million square feet of space in it. Construction is scheduled for completion early in 1974.

. . .

_Trolley square, which although isn't a new construction project, has nevertheless involved more than $7.5 million
in restoration work to make it into a shopping center with 60 shops and a gross leasable space of 270,000 square
feet. Some portions of Trolley Square are already open and operating, and Rothers will be opening throughout the coming year.

—Arrow Press Square, now virtually completed in its major elements, has been a multi-million dollar restoration
project near the Salt Palace. Soon another element still be added: a $3.7 million building containing 72,000 square feet of retail space and from 39.000 to 60.000 square feet of office space This four-story building will be on the northeast corner of West Temple and Second South on ground formerly occupied by a group of ramshackle buildings that were torn down by the Salt Lake Redevelopment Agency.

. . .

—Further south. Fashion Place Mall is still under construction in some areas and will be for a few years, even though two of its major tenants, Sears Roebuck
and Auerbach's, have opened large new branch stores there. A new department store chain, Broadway, will open in Utah
at the mall. The mall covers 91 acres of ground and includes around 1 million square feet of space. Cost is projected at $45 million.
